Tournament Rules
• This is a Catch & Release tournament
• Tournament begins at 6:00 AM PST.
• Participant(s) must check the tournament website, www.socalsfb.com to obtain the code word for the tournament.
• The code word will be available starting at 6:00AM PST on the day of the tournament and must be in all photo submissions.
• Fish submissions must be submitted by 12:30 PM PST
• Participant(s) are allowed to fish from the shore, pier, jetty, or harbor as long as the area is approved by the current CDFW regulations.
• Participant(s) must obey all State of California fishing regulations of CDFW.

• If required, participants must obtain and carry a valid 2022 California fishing license.

• Eligible specie(s) for the tournament (including the 50/50 $5 add-on):
• Surfperch, Halibut, Croaker (Spot Fin Croaker and Yellowfin Croaker).
• It is the participant(s) responsibly to know the various specie(s).

• Any artificial hard or soft plastic bait/lure is allowed.
• Live or prepared bait is NOT allowed.
• Participant(s) will be awarded 1 point per inch.
• Fractional points will be awarded in ¼” (or .25) increments.
• See Fish Submission Rules for additional details.
• The winner(s) will be based on who has the most points.
• If there is a tie for 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place, the participant who caught the biggest fish will be considered the winner. If this does not break the tie, the participant with the second largest fish will be considered the winner. If the winner still has not been determined, the tournament director will make the decision on who the winner is.
• 50/50 $5 Add-On for Perch, Halibut, and Croaker are 3 separate side pots so there will be 3 separate winners.
• In order to participate in the add-on’s, you must be a Surf Fishing Tournament Participant.
• The participant who catches the largest qualifying specie(s) in the add-on category will receive 50% of the total pot.
• The remaining 50% will be donated to Reel Warriors Foundation and SoCal Sportfishing Club.
• If there is a tie, the participants will split the 50% that that is owed to them and the remaining 50% will be donated to Reel Warriors Foundation and SoCal Sportfishing Club.
• Participant(s) will need to report to Four Sons Brewing at 18421 Gothard St Suite 100, Huntington Beach, CA 92648 by 1:30 PM PST.
• Tournament winners will be announced between 1:45 – 2:45 PM PST.
• Tournament winners must be present at the award ceremony when their name is called to win and claim their prize.
• If the participant is not present when their name is called, the next highest scoring participant will be awarded the prize.
Fish Submission Guidelines
• Participant(s) must measure their catch with the tournament measuring device.
• Participant(s) must include their Surf Fishing Bonanza ID Number and code word in all fish submission photos.
• To submit your photos, participants must email all photos to submit@socalsfb.com by 12:30 PM PST
• No late submissions will be accepted.
• It is the participants responsibility to ensure you are in a location where you can successfully submit your photos.
• If a participant submits more than 4 fish, their 4 largest fish will be used to determine their total points.
• When measuring your fish:
• The fish must be on top of the tournament measuring device for the fish to count.
• The mouth of the fish must closed and the mouth of the fish must be placed at the “0” mark of the measuring device.
• If you fail to place the fish in the right spot, you will receive a ½” deduction.
• The participant must include the lure in their photo submission.
• If you fail to include the lure, you will receive a ½” deduction.
• Measurements will be rounded to the nearest ¼”.
